Founding member Anthony Scott is a popular English professor at the local university, a minister, a published poet, and an accomplished musician and singer-songwriter. One night while he was preparing for an upcoming performance, his friend and musical sidekick Chris Morton mentioned a rehearsal for a Motown band the following evening. “That sounds fun,” Anthony commented. “Mind if I show up?” Chris replied that the band would be happy to have him.
The following evening, Anthony turned up for the Star City Syndicate’s second-ever rehearsal and was surprised to discover that he was the new lead singer. His powerful and soaring lead vocals have been a mainstay ever since, and his quiet harmonies give a polished sheen to many Motown standards.
