The son of a music teacher, Randy King (shown here on the right beside fellow trombonist Pat Kinsey) made All-State on the trombone all four years of his high school career. After graduating from the Roberto-Venn School of Lutherie in Colorado, Randy moved back to Aroostook County and was immediately hired by Larry Hall to work at Aroostook Music. When that company went out of business in 2012, Randy joined Mr. Hall and Chris Morton and became the K in KMH Music. Whether he’s playing his step-up Conn silver trombone from his high school days or a 1920’s Conn Silver-plated bell welded to a 1960’s King lacquered slide, Randy can usually be found “tromboning extra-hard” (his words) in the formidable low brass section of the Syndicate.
